Dynacord, S1200/ Ev Q66
The two amplifiers, S1200 and Q66 are basically the same model, and come off the same production line in EV's German factory.
The main difference (apart from the badge) is that the volume controls are on the front for the Dynacord and on the rear for the EV. So the Dynacord is more suited to mobile rigs, and the EV for fixed installations (though either are suitable for either job.
They are both "bulletproof" amps. EV demonstrate these amplifiers' impressive protection circuits at the factory, first by attaching a 100volt grinder to the outputs of the bridged terminals, setting a signal generator at 60Hz and then running the amplifier on full. The then challenge you to try to blow up the amp using any way you can think of. We tried, we failed, we just couldn't get it to even stress. That's how amplifiers should be.
They also sound excellent. Good solid bottom end (they use bipolar transistors) and smooth mid and highs. Big power supplies mean they can deliver 20% more than their rated power. (2 x 600w 4 ohms)
